Fundraisers, how are you giving to yourself? This is the most generous time of year!
For us in the nonprofit fundraising field, year-end is usually our busiest time of year. On top of making sure our year-end plans are set, we must have consensus from leadership, our team and our board of directors (which we know can take time), and then it’s time to implement the plan. Whew!
Before you jump in, let’s pause to think about something you can give yourself…TODAY.
- A healthy lunch (or even an unhealthy lunch!).
- Purchase that new blazer you saw online.
- Watch that new series (or an episode) on Netflix that keeps popping up.
- Step away from the busyness an hour earlier than usual.
These are some things that many fundraisers do (and look forward to) daily. Make sure to have things to look forward to – short-term, like today, and long-term, next month or this holiday season.
My gift to myself today is M&Ms. Today I’m honoring my grandma and her twin. They were inspiring to so many and to me, they knew how to give – to others certainly, and to themselves, most importantly – a chocolate/sweet treat, a new scarf, a trip to the beauty parlor.
Sending my best to you during the year-end giving season!
